Should Alien be as big as Star Wars & Star Trek is to fans?

 

I’m a huge Alien fan and I loved all the films right up to Alien Resurrection. The moments captured in the ‘original’ Aliens were immense and those Xenomorphs  are truly terrifying. From the mini hammer like mouth to the acid filled saliva, those ‘alien’ monsters are quite simply amazing.

Now, I’ve never been into Star Trek or Star Wars. I have nothing against them or those who love the franchises but for me, it’s not something I’m ‘into’.

One thing I love about the franchises though is the impact they make upon a new release. If there is a new release coming, the world goes crazy and I love the fact a franchise really grabs the world to a halt. The media, the fans, everyone hypes up the release.

Ridley Scott, the man behind Alien believes his franchise should be up there with Star Wars and Star Trek is with fans. He recently spoke with the Toronto Sun and had this to say:

“There’s no reason why Alien should now not be on the same level for fans as Star Trek and Star Wars,. “So I think the next step as to where we go is, do we sustain the Alien (series) with the evolution of the beast or do we reinvent something else? I think you need to have an evolution on this famous beast because he’s the best monster ever, really.”

Myself personally would love to see Alien hit the hype that Star Wars & Star Trek does but although it does obviously make a huge impact, I don’t believe it’s going to with releases like Prometheus. I want more Xenomorphs!!
